SHOP & FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIANS

Locations (Multiple Job Opportunities): Baltimore, Maryland; Manassas, Virginia; Winchester, Virginia
Division/Department: McClung-Logan Equipment Company/Service Dept.

JOB SUMMARY:

Repairs and maintains heavy construction and aggregate equipment such as excavators, loaders, graders, paving machines etc. Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose defects. Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs service tasks as they may be assigned by the service manager or the shop manager.
  • Keeps tracks of all changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the distributors.
  • Reports each repair job at the end of each shift, providing the following information: Customers name, make and model of unit, serial number, hours worked, details of work performed, problems encountered (if any), time required, parts, equipment & supplies used.
  • Brings to the attention of the Shop Manager any additional work required on unit.
  • Utilize great technical skills to perform hydraulic and electronic tests, also using VCAD’s computer programming for diagnostics and parameter settings.
  • Analyze and utilize schematic diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Utilize strong organizational and customer service skills to order parts and provide quotes for clients.
  • Keeps immediate shop area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Notifies shop superintendent/foreman if shop equipment or vehicle is not in serviceable condition or constitutes a safety hazard.
  • Returns tools to crib or tool box at the end of each shift in a clean, working condition ready for the next man to use.
  • Takes advantage of all opportunities to attend schools and training sessions in order to upgrade technical competence.
  • Practice inter-personal skills to maintain a positive relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as prescribed by the shop superintendent from time to time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position occasionally requires stooping, pushing, moving and reaching overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
  • Occasional work outdoors in various climate and temperatures.
  • This position is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles and moderate noise levels.
  • This position occasionally requires to work overtime in the shop or in the field.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma; Trade School (2 yr degree) preferred.
  • Continuing education with verifiable credits from Manufacturer’s technical schools or training programs.
  • Must possess a class “B” driver’s license.
  • Must be able to successfully hold certifications for MSHA, First Aid/ CPR, etc.

WARRANTY ADMINISTRATOR

Locations: Baltimore, Maryland
Division/Department: McClung-Logan Equipment Company/Service Dept.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

This position requires excellent communication and computer skills including Excel. General mechanical knowledge to be able to understand work orders and materials being claimed for reimbursement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use of warranty system to generate price quotes for both new and used equipment for sales department.
  • Initiate warranty start-ups on new equipment.
  • Work with General Service Manager to keep branch personnel up to date with proper warranty repair and claim procedures.
  • File both Parts and Service warranty claims with manufacturers for multiple branch locations.
  • Monitor warranty work orders to insure we are reimbursed for the highest  percentage of our costs as possible.
  • Work with Parts and Service managers to develop and implement processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Track and report warranty repair invoices  in relationship to warranty recovery weekly.
  • Retrieve warranty credit invoices and post against repair invoices in operating system.
  • Other duties as required.

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • This position occasionally requires stooping, pushing, moving and reaching overhead and requires the ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Salary based on candidate’s qualifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires that the applicant be screened with a background check prior to accepting the position.
  • High School diploma; Trade School (2 yr degree) preferred.
  • Continuing education with verifiable credits from manufacturer’s technical schools or training programs.
  • Proficient in the use of basic office equipment, including PC’s, business software, network applications and internet based business portals.
